Since 2008 the French government has established a tax specific to offshore wind projects. This tax represents 12 879 Euros per installed megawatt per year. In other words, the Grunes offshore wind project will generate a fiscal income of over 1,000,000 Euros per year.
50% of this sum is allocated to local communities. This income will enable municipal teams to finance projects crucial to the land's development without raising taxes.
35% is allocated to the department to fund maritime activities such as fishing and leisure in the communities located in a radius of 12 nautical miles (about 22 km) around the project. It will enable the development of key industries on a local level.
15% is allocated to sustainable development and other maritime activities.
